Sixth Workshop on Using Learning and Engagement Stategies in Software Engineering and Programming Courses

Eligibility: Instructors of CS1, CS2, Software Engineering and Software Testing courses.

Workshop Focus:

  • Introduce instructors to the Learning and Engagement Strategies Integration Model (LESIM). LESs - collaborative learning, gamification, problem-based learning and social interaction in CS/IT/SE
  • Introduce instructors to the features of SEP-CyLE – Software Engineering and Programming Cyberlearning Environment that support student learning (https://stem-cyle.cis.fiu.edu/)
  • Form a community of instructors that use LESIM in their classes in both the Face-to-Face and Online class activities

Benefits:

  • Implement LESIM in the classroom to improve student learning in CS/IT/SE courses
  • Quickly and easily integrate the use of SEP-CyLE into the course activities for CS/IT/SE courses
  • Learn to plan and conduct student studies to measure the impact of using LESIM in classes

Support:

The workshop is supported by an NSF IUSE Engaged Student Learning - Design and Development Level II grant (DUE-1525112). We have funds to support travel and lodging for a limited number of persons to attend the workshop.
